Last weekend I went to a Volkswagen swapfest in Effingham, Illinois.
It's basically a swap meet. My lesson on the day was that it's a great idea to show up early and buy stuff from people who don't know what it is.
A couple of the things I bought:
I got two cores for VW heater boxes. This is the center of the part of the exhaust system that provides heat to the inside of the car. The ones you can buy nowadays don't have near the fin surface area.
So one day when I want to rebuild my engine, I'll use these and build heater boxes for it.
But here's what I wanted to find:
This is a bit rough-looking, but I brought a calipers and measured the journals. This crank has never been re-ground. I should be able use it at least twice.
